I had found many things to appreciate as I prowled the neighbourhoods of old Yafo and bohemian Neve Tzedek in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Check out my friend and fellow blogger Lawrence Ferber's observations of Israel. His Israel-o-rama series is great!
Trip mate Janelle Nanos of National Geographic's Intelligent Traveler blog has some tips on how to get "dirty" in Israel!

what is it that I love about stacks of suitcases? I suppose it lends itself to adventure, mystery and experience: life! the padlock makes me think of Florence with the bridge over the Arno river where lovers leave locks to symbolize everlasting love. I always giggled wondering how many Italian boys used that as a ploy to convince a girl he "really" loved her. LOL!
I have an obsession with old suitcases - I have a stack (that i paid far too much for at an antique store in Chicago) decorating a corner of my living room.
The street sign is, hands down, my favourite of the lot. The harshly contrasting colours, against the textured wall? That's beautiful. Unintended Urban Art.
The old suitcases looks fabulous...I wonder what stories are behind...how many families they belonged to, if any tragedies befell their owners...a million more questions come to mind when viewing these.
Jen,
thank you for stopping by.
Now is my turn to learn something from you! - Yafo and Yaffa are the same?

Great finds! I especially love the glass and the stret sign. Sounds like a very mentally stimulating time you're having. I'll ckeck out the Smith contest and you've inspired me to think about a contest of my own with CD giveaways, since you liked Buika so much!
Have to agree with Franki on this one. The suitcase shot pulls me in. Next adventure around the corner feel.
I love coloured glass...the pics are awesome
love love the first pics with the glass hangings ;-)
Hello -
Franki, Katie, Baron's Life, Gennaro,
Needless to say, some of those suitcases made it back to Toronto with me!
Mike & Ms. R Fly Girl,
The colours of that street art just jumped out at me! Loved it!
Lakshmi & cpsanti,
There's just something dream-like about light hitting coloured glass, don't you think?
Natalie,
Thanks for visiting my blog! Hope to see you around more in the blogosphere!

Those stacked suitcases remind me Ellis Island museum. Like the other commentators, they strike me the most because it reminds me of the classic way to travel (I use a backpack!).
I like the pics on this blog. I think I would like that area in Isreal too. Now would you stop blogging and post your isreal pics on facebook! Mel :P
great shots chie!!
