How To Eat Like A(n) _____ Locally

No matter where you live, it is possible to emulate your favourite culture at home. Obsessing about French sophistication? Ruminating about la Italian dolce vita? Yearning for the laid back life you had in Thailand? Mulling over Mexican fiestas? There are many ways to channel your inner internationalist locally. Learning the language is, perhaps, the most noble of intents, but even that takes time! In my opinion, the easiest way to instant gratification is through food - a topic dear to my heart (and belly). Today, it's about Italy and France.

A little bit of Italy in your life with mozzarella di bufala.

Amen to all of the above! Food is the one of the key reasons I travel: sad, but true!

Beautiful pictures! You can't go wrong with French and Italian cuisine. Eating food the world over is always an interesting experience if not always taste-bud tantalizing. I've had many "interesting" food fun, but bliss is certainly a caprese salad in Campania.

Haha, I was such a dolt when I went to France. Bought what I thought was milk...turned out to be a carton of sour cream. Try taking a swig of THAT in the morning. Yum.

You are making me so hungry!!! The photos are gorgeous and I love cheese. It is impossible to find good cheese in India. Ah, what I would give for some fine cheese and fresh bread right now.

Dairy and France go hand in hand. the average French eats up to 60 lb of cheese per year! Can you believe it?

"...the easiest way to instant gratification is through food." I couldn't agree more. This post brought back some great memories of the superb food I ate in France a few years ago.

And the first photo of the mozarella made me think of all the different types of yoghurt (30+) we could see in the supermarket.

I think we share the exact view on what is really good in life and that is precisely food and all culture and life that surrounds. Around the world, I can't find a better cultural connector. That mozzarella looks stunning. I have been in Asia for over a year and have only had cheese once. I would do quite a bit for a sample of that!
